2PIR RECEIVES TWO GRANTS TO FACILITATE THE GASIFICATION OF SEWAGE SLUDGE.
The two grants are framed in two projects designed to investigate the use of sewage sludge as energy.
In this way, 2pir has positioned itself as one of Spains leading engineering companies in R+D, both at national and European level.The first of these two grants has been awarded by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), an entity dependent on the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitivity whose basic function is to promote the innovation and technological development of Spanish companies. Under the project name HISOS, 2pir is investigating the projection and application of a hybrid system of gasification of sewage sludge and biomass. The objective of this research is twofold: to eliminate waste and generate a synthesis gas. Both achievements result in latest generation energy recovery.
Another grant, provided directly by the Ministry of science and technology under the subprogramme INNPACTO, is part of the SIVAE project in which 2pir participates through a consortium with the companies FORCIMSA and Foundation Attico. The objective in this case is to design a solar dryer of sewage sludge for its subsequent gasification with biomass. The main objective is to facilitate the elimination of sludge in those populations which do not have a sewage treatment plant to do so. Our research focuses on ensuring that the process of elimination of the sludge will be able to generate a synthesis gas that will either be applicable to its own drying process, or used for electrical cogeneration.
